Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is an operation that corrects the sagging or drooping of eyelids as well as bags around the eyes. Excess skin and fat are removed simultaneously.  Excess skin and bags around eyes can be genetic, age related, or caused by other medical conditions.

Excessive hanging skin  and drooping eyelids may cause problems with vision.  If your vision is severely impaired by hanging skin, medical insurance may cover a portion of your surgical cost.  A test known as a visual field exam typically performed by your eye doctor will determine the extent of the visual impairment.
